Racing The Bell!

Talk to your partner about the kind of breakfast you usually eat. What's your favorite and why?
- My partner is Alex and he usually eats coco puffs for breakfast because its ingredients are included chocolate.
If you've ever skipped breakfast, how did it make you feel? Did you notice anything about your energy level during the day?
- Most times I skip breakfast and I feel great still. I miss out breakfast because I don't want to eat and I sometimes wake up late.
Look through the story again together. What effects did missing breakfast have on Kate? How could she have avoided this?
- During her test her brain stopped all a sudden. She forgot her lunch at home. And when it was time to do their 3 kilometer run she did not have enough energy and that is because she did not have breakfast.

Mighty Muscles

Think about three kinds of athletes - Sprints, weightlifters and gymnasts. They all use muscles in different ways. How are they different? What do they need their muscles to do? Can you thing of other sports in which athletes use your muscles in the way they use theirs?
- Sprinters: they use their hamstring, thigh, biceps triceps. Weightlifters: shoulders, thigh, biceps and triceps. Gymnasts: They use every muscle and they are also flexible.
- Netball, Soccer, League and Rugby.

House Sports (100 Meter Sprints)

On Monday we all gathered at the courts to attend house sports. It was a sunny lovely day to participate . Anyways, my group was kowhai 1 and our opponent was kauri 1. We were told to head up to the field and compete in 100 meter sprints.

First we ordered ourselves from year 4's to year 8's. Secondly our teacher which was Mrs Tofa settled the little ones first. We began with the young ones racing. When it was our turn Mrs Tofa gave head starts to the young once which made it very challenging. But we did not give up!

Overall, at the end of the day someone has to win so we wanted to earn more point by sitting an settling down well. "Kauri 1 has 9 points altogether" Mrs Tofa released from the paper. "Kowhai has 9 point altogether too" Miss said. It was a hard game though but it came down the the result.

National Anthem.

God of Nations! at Thy feet,
In the bonds of love we meet,
Hear our voices we entreat,
God defend our free land.
Guard Pacific's triple star
From the shafts of strife and war,
Make her praises heard afar,
God defend New Zealand.

E Ihowä Atua,
O ngä iwi mätouä
Äta whakarongona;
Me aroha noa
Kia hua ko te pai;
Kia tau tö atawhai;
Manaakitia mai
Aotearoa.
